In the class ME6610 – Mechanics of Solids for Automation we learned about analysis of stress, strains in components subjected to various types of efforts. In the laboratory, we were able to learn photoelasticity techniques and electrical extensometer. For the final project, we dimensioned a load cell and instrumented with strain gauge to apply in a reservoir of water. Therefore, when the level of water was low, the strains gauge sent a signal for the control system and opened the water valve. In addition, when the level of water was high, there was a valve to eliminate the excess water.
I and two other students (Feliphe Gonçalves and Leonardo Moraes) did the job; therefore, everyone worked equally to build the load cell and electric circuit to control the system.
